Sunspot 1520

There is quite a large sunspot visible at the moment. Imaging details are as folllows:
Thousand Oaks off centre solar filter on front of Meade 8" SCT operating at f19
Imaging Source webcam with near infrared pass filter
1/626 sec. gain 496. gamma 100.
600 frames stacked in Registax 5 and sharpened in Registax 6
I've done little sunspot imaging in the past and this image is not particulalry good but it has shown me that sunspot processing in Registax is different again to planets - inparticular I was able to apply much more sharpening, probably because the image was noise free because of the low gain.

Hi Arthur...plenty of detail in this image, but perhaps you overdid the sharpening? If you haven't already, I recommend you download and read the articles by Eric Roel and Sylvain Weiller on the Registax site. Looking forwards to seeing more solar images from you.

Paul,
I think you are correct - thanks for pointing it out. I was trying to bring out the granulation. Also probably to much "curves". Attached is a toned down version.
